Cloth trader attacked with petrol bomb in Chhapra, Bihar, plan was to kill the entire family

Jagran Correspondent, Chhapra. A petrol bomb was thrown at the house of a cloth trader in Mauna Chowk Gudhatti Mohalla under Nagar police station area in the city on Sunday night. Trader Diwakar Gupta was severely burnt in the incident. Chaos ensued after the incident.

He was rushed to Chhapra Sadar Hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be out of danger. At Sadar Hospital, Diwakar Gupta said that he had a property dispute with his elder brother Rajendra Gupta for the past year. There was talk of resolving the dispute through mutual agreement. The accused, Jitendra Kumar, has been taken into police custody and is being interrogated.

Jitendra Tiwari, son of Mankeshwar Tiwari, a resident of Madhopur in Gopalganj district, was pressuring them and roaming around offices with forged documents to seize their property. But his efforts were not succeeding. Meanwhile, late on Sunday night, when they noticed suspicious activities at the entry and exit points of their house, he came to the door where suddenly an explosion occurred and burning petrol fell on his entire body, causing him to suffer severe burns.

After he was burnt, his staff brought him to Sadar Hospital. The victim said that a CCTV camera installed outside his house shows a person setting fire, which clearly indicates that a conspiracy was made to burn the entire family to death.

Diwakar Gupta has accused his elder brother Rajendra Gupta of orchestrating the attack. He has given his statement to Nagar police station, and will also submit a written application. Soot marks from the flames are clearly visible on the walls of the house. Additionally, piles of red chili powder were placed at both doors. Meanwhile, the police have collected evidence from the crime scene and started investigating the case. The police are also examining the CCTV footage from the house.
